The national Ministry of Health on Wednesday trained South Sudanese Journalists on Ebola preparedness and response in Juba.

The training was centered on the definition of the disease, its signs and symptoms and preventive measures.

Director-General in the Ministry of Health Pinyi Nyimol urges media practitioners to play a key role by delivering the right information to communities in South Sudan.

World Health Organization or WHO Health Emergency officer, Otim Patrick, states that the virus is deadly, but can be contained if diagnosed within the first 21 days.

He stresses that the signs and symptoms of Ebola are similar to other diseases.

Meanwhile, Health Promotion Director Mary Denis mentions that a number of posters are available to help educate the community about the disease.

The community needs to be equipped with the right information about Ebola virus, she notes.
