The administration of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba strongly condemns burning of the flag of South Sudan and the cloths covering the seat of Archbishop in St Theresa’s Cathedral Kator.

In a communication note issued on September 1, Secretary-General of the Archdiocese, Fr Samuel Abe Joseph, says an altar boy of Kator reported on August 27 that the two clothes were burned in the Cathedral.

After visiting the scene, the administration immediately reported the case to the police and investigation is ongoing, he explains.

Fr Abe describes the action as a ‘crime, ungodly and evil act which is desecrating to the house of God’.

The Secretary-General informs all faithful of the Catholic Archdiocese that no suspect is found yet.

He appeals to all believers and the public to be calm and desist from carrying rumours around the town for the law to take its course.

The administration of the Juba Catholic Archdiocese prays that ‘the Holy Spirit will be in control of the situation’.
