South Sudan Ministry of Higher Education has affiliated with the Catholic Private University of Bahr Al-Ghazal. This was revealed by the education minister during his three day visit to Wau State.
St. Mary Help College Principal Sister Grace told Voice of Hope Radio that their foundation of the college and hospital was founded in 2013, and commenced operation in 2014 with outpatient services.
The institute recently graduated its first batch of nurses and midwifes, she adds.
The request of affiliating the college to University of Bhar Ghazal came in 2016, because she has vision for the college and students to have degrees, she explains.
Vice Chancellor of University of Bhar Ghazal, Samson Wassara, says that the affiliation of St. Mary Help College is to empower the education system and their certificates.
Wau State Governor, Brigadier General, Angelo Taban Biajo expresses his happiness to see the development of a new college coming up in the state.
He promises to continue providing security in the state.
Minister of Higher Education, Justice Yein Lam, says St. Mary Help College deserves to be a university because structures of such value give chance to people to acquire degrees.
Minister Yein calls on St. Mary Help College to benefit from the opportunity of being affiliated to a renowned University to uplift the standard of their education system.
