Chiefs and women groups’ leaders in Lakes States call for dissolution of Jieng, Nuer and Equatoria Councils of elders that are causing all confusions in South Sudan.

The groups under Civil Society Organization Network made the call on July 19 while discussing the final draft of the peace agreement in Sudanese capital Khartoum.

They in a statement CRN got, call on the mediators not to put their own interest in the South Sudan peace process, but be neutral and consult citizens on the ground.

They demand extension of the power sharing to the state by increasing the number of legislatures.

They call on the upcoming transitional government to organize election within eighteen months for citizens to elect their leaders.

The groups want inclusive allocation of power to all parties to bring lasting peace to the people of South Sudan.

All political parties, government, SPLM-IO and other oppositions should sign this proposal in Khartoum for the sake of peace to South Sudanese, the groups stress.

They say no more increment to vice presidents, ministers, deputy ministers and national Assembly members.
