Humanitarian conditions in Heiban Payam are poor as prices are very high, according to executive director.

Anur Abdel Rahman Morgan says the price of sorghum is rising continuously, Voice of Peace Radio reports.

He clarifies that there are no durra in markets and people go far to buy from traders.

The director states that there was inadequate rainfall last year that led to hunger in the area.

This year’s rainfall is also unreliable, he adds.

Abdel Rahman calls on the Nubba community to cooperate and have the spirit of unity among one another.

He hopes the rain will fall so that people can cultivate and produce food because it is the only means of earning a living in the region.

Meanwhile Heiban Clinic Acting Director William Kuku says there has been an increase in malaria cases in Nuba Mountains.

There have been many cases of sexually transmitted diseases among people, but has got drugs for the infections, he adds.

Kuku notes that many children in the Payam are malnourished.

The officers spoke to Voice of Peace Radio on Thursday in Heiban Payam.
