The Transitional National Legislative Assembly on Thursday in the third sitting passed a bill, extending the tenure of the government for three years.
The extension of the national and state executive, legislators and the court is from 12 August 2018 to 12 August 2021.
The Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly Anthony Lino Makana declared the Bill passed.
The chairperson of the committee for Legislation and Justice in the Assembly Deng Tiel Ayuen Kur says the extension is to give time for peace.
He says the president will appoint Governors with the help of the First Vice President.
The Chairperson of the committee for information in the Assembly, Paul Yoane Bonju says the reason is to avoid vacuum for the constitution to be completed.
Minister of Justice Pauilino Wanawila presented the bill to the parliament.
