The Episcopal Church of South Sudan or ECSS in Yambio has witnessed displacement of fifteen parishes from the eastern and north-western parts of the diocese in the last two weeks in Gbudue State.

ECSS Church is the second place hosting the greatest number of IDPs after Tombura County with about 4,056 households and 28,616 individuals.

Many people left their areas due to the recent insecurity in Makpandu, Bazungua, Saura and Nadiangere, who are now camping at Timbiro All Saint Cathedral.

The IDPs left their areas because armed opposition were killing, kidnapping, looting their properties and raping some young girls among them.

Provincial Secretary for Western Equatoria Internal Province Reverend Tito Taban says the number is likely to increase because they keep on receiving new members daily.

He blames armed SPLM in opposition for causing atrocities to their own people, who have no basic needs because they left everything behind.

The Secretary calls on the government and humanitarian aid workers to rescue the people before the situation gets out of hand.

Reverend Taban spoke to Anisa Radio at All Saints Cathedral Timbiro in Yambio on Tuesday.
