Tonj State launches back to learning campaign

Thousands of students and government officials gathered on Wednesday at Tonj Freedom Square to witness back to learning campaign.
 
According to Don Bosco Radio, the campaign is under the theme: ‘Back to learning for the future’.
 
Teacher Kuanyin Wek Kuanyin says back to learning is important for those who dropped out of school.
 
He reveals that NGOs and the national government initiated back to learning program to all children across the country.
 
Tonj County Commissioner Severino Philip Bazia tells school children to prioritize education.
 
He explains that Tonj State is blessed because there is no insecurity affecting learners like in other states of South Sudan.
 
Girls and boys must study hard together since they are the future leaders, Philip stresses.
 
He encourages students to follow their careers to achieve their goals.
 
The commissioner says a country without education is like a tree without leaves.
 
Education Minster Deng Wek mentions that the number of children registered in schools this year is 84,766 compared to 84,719 of last year.
 
Acting Governor Manyang Pagor appreciates UNICEF for supporting back to learning program in Tonj State and South Sudan as a whole.
 
During the occasion Pagor ordered organize force to monitor the school materials in the markets especially UNICEF exercise books.
 
He cautions that if someone is found selling them, he or she should face the law.
 
The leaders talked to a gathering of back to learning campaign initiated by UNIECF and the Ministry Education in Tonj.
