Torit State Governor says South Sudan needs a lot of commitment to attain real peace.

Tobiolo Alberio Oromo was addressing participants of reconstruction program organized by the Catholic Diocese of Torit.

He says the country has been in war for many years and it’s time to live in peace for people to develop.

Governor Alberio calls on the international communities and donors to commit themselves in building lasting peace in South Sudan.

He also calls for collective efforts to end the civil war.

‘South Sudan needs peace because South Sudan is a country that has lived in a war for about 50 and it is now going to 60 years. It is not a one day journey to bring a country that has lived in war for many years to peace. It needs a lot of commitment from all of us the nationals, our neighbors and donors to work and make South Sudan a better country. A grassroots approach in peace building is very important. We need to build the people in the grassroots. We also need to sensitize them, teach and continue to be with the people’, says the Governor.

He advises South Sudan politicians to work for peace instead of struggling for power.

‘Our problem is the issue of power struggle. It is the one that is disturbing our population. This is what is destroying South Sudan’. When toady you are relieved, doesn’t mean that you are thrown out of the country”, Governor Alberio stresses.

Alberio emphasizes need to involve grassroots communities in peace building activities in the state and the country at large.
