The Executive Director of Support for Peace Initiative Development Organization or PIDO applauds the national Ministry of Health for banning police ‘form eight’ often used to get treatment during emergencies in all hospitals.

For many years, government hospitals have been demanding patients to avail the form whenever they are involved in accidents or violence-related injuries.

Wodcan Saviour Lazarus says the recent move by the government will help patients especially survivors of gender-based violence to get quick access to medication.

The director mentions that life is very important than ‘form 8’ because police sometimes does not respond to accident quickly which worsens situation of the patient.

Wodcan appeals to the government for further actions on the implementation of the order to recue patients from emergency cases.

The officials suggested that the Ministry of Interior should alert the public on the banning of form eight because this will encourage and build confidence in them.

He urges stakeholders to join hands with the national government to continue educating the entire public on what to do when involved in accident.

National Minister of Health Dr Riak Gai announced this week the order to ban the use of form 8.

He notes that the order was issued in 2015 by the former Inspector General of Police, Pieng Deng, but its execution was delayed.

The official was speaking to the media in Yambio on Thursday.
