The Deputy Mayor of Tonj Municipality on Wednesday ordered killing of loitering dogs in the town.

Arop Mark Mayol says the Municipality has received many cases of dog-bites including Deputy Secretary-General of State Council of Ministers.

He instructs the Wildlife Department to implement the order of the municipality this weekend.

The official tells dogs’ owners to take their animals to the veterinary doctors for the vaccination.

Mark advises the public to care for their dogs because those loitering unvaccinated will be killed.

Killing of wanted dogs which is the first of its kind in the area will make the town safe, he adds.

Director of Wildlife Conservation in Tonj, Brigadier Madhieu Jangkou, says they are not concerned with the killing of domestic animals.

He emphasizes that for the safety of the community, they can implement the order but with proper understanding.

The director appeals to the public to keep in mind that wildlife deals with wild animals not tame ones.

The leaders talked to Don Bosco Radio on Wednesday in Tonj.
