Justice and Peace Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Torit is conducting a three-day learning session for rebuilding programs.

The course aims at identifying and knowing the laid plans for peace and analyzing challenges to peace processes in the state.

Commission Coordinator Father John Opi says identifying obstacles to peace helps develop sustainable ways for stability in the state and across the border.

Building prospects helps put together relationships between communities, he stresses.

Father Opi hopes the three-day meeting will help participants develop strategic plans to foster the relationship between Kapoeta and Torit as one people of one Diocese.

On her part Sarah Ketelaar, Program Leader for PAX organization, appreciates peace actors for their hard work for sustainable peace.

The learning session was also design to look into actions of women across the borders in bringing about peace to the country, she adds.

Ketelaar says PAX has been supporting peace activities of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, Kuron Peace Village and the Catholic Diocese of Kotido in Uganda and some parts of Kenya.

Meanwhile Dr Ukidimoi Ogura Torit Local Government Minister in his opening remarks says peace and security are the priority of the state.

He advises South Sudanese to learn from the past experience and be actors for peace.

The minister admits that the state leadership have not been involving rural women to participate in the peace process.

He expresses government commitment to bring lasting peace and stability in the state.

The officials made the remarks during their opening of the three-day learning session in Torit on Tuesday.

State government officials, Members of the Parliament, civil society organizations and religious leaders of Kapoeta, Torit and Uganda attended the session.
