The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD comments the ongoing talks between Eritrea and Ethiopia to reach peaceful coexistence.
Ambassador Mahboub Maalim is very pleased to learn about the arrival of Eritrean high level delegation in Addis Ababa for the first time since the breakdown of relationship between the two countries almost two decades ago.
He hails Prime Minister of Ethiopia Dr Abiy Ahmed for taking the first step for Ethiopia and Eritrea to resolve their differences peacefully.
The IGAD Executive Secretary also commends the President of Eritrea, Isaias Afeworki, for positive response to the initiative.
Ambassador Maalim is confident that the talks will bear fruit that Eritrean and Ethiopian peoples and the region as a whole will appreciated them.
The bloc commits to do its level best to support the success of the talks, he pledges.
He says IGAD congratulates the peoples of the two countries who are the greatest beneficiaries of the new developments.
