Gender base violence or GBV Director in Wau is calling for support to victims of gender base violence.

Ruth Kimathiy was speaking during a two-day’s workshop, targeting community leaders, media houses and government officials on GBV.

She says the workshop was organized by GBV office in collaboration with international medical corps or IMC in Wau, on how to support victims.

The Director says she expects the community to develop a positive attitude towards survivors.

Kimathiy notes that during the workshop, the trainees discussed issues that led to the spread of gender base violence, including cultural believes, illiteracy and too much of alcohol consumption.

She expresses the willingness to work together with the communities to reduce GBV.

Kimathiy adds that the participants were able to raise many consequences of gender base violence which include deaths, suicide and many others, because of frustration and stigmatization survivors go through.
