Wau State on Thursday joined the globe in celebrating World Blood Day under the theme: ‘Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share life’.

The day is for potential donors’ celebration to encourage others to give blood to save people’s lives, says Stanislaus Barnaba, World Health Organization representative.

The representative says lack of blood is a challenge for all health facilities in the state.

He appeals for more donation of blood to save more lives.

It is important to extent the campaign of blood donation to other areas to help Wau Teaching Hospital, suggests Stanley Bariu Hatani, ICRC Hospital Project Manager.

International Blood Donation Day is commemorated on June 14 worldwide.

In Wau, it was commemorated on Thursday at Wau Teaching Hospital.
