United Nations in Torit on Tuesday joined the rest of the world to mark the annual peace keepers’ day.
Acting head of UNMISS in Torit, Bashir Allegelle, says the day was to remember all peacekeepers who sacrificed their lives on duty in South Sudan and the world, Emmanuel Radio reports.
About six UN soldiers and police died while on their peace keeping mission in South Sudan, he points out.
Allegele says UNMISS contributing forces composed of ten countries which are Rwanda, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, China, Mongolia, United Kingdom, and Korea
Torit State Governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo describes the death of the fallen heroes as a sacrifice to fighting for ever lasting peace in South Sudan.
He prays that God take the souls blue helmet peace keepers who died to eternal peace.
Governor Alberio thanks the countries that have contributed to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan forces for their hard work in achieving peace in the country.
