There is need to recognize the work of the medical personnel in South Sudan, says the Minister of Health for Yei River State.

Kogo Manasseh says doctors do tremendous work in the country and yet they are being killed during the war in South Sudan despites the hard work they do.

Medical personnel are among highly targeted people by both parties throughout the four years of south Sudanese unrest, he points out.

The minister believes medical personnel are among people who are neutral and should be protected by all parties in any conflict.

He expresses dismay about of the nature of the war South Sudanese are undergoing.

The minister was speaking during the second anniversary of Sister Veronica Teresa Rackova.

Sister veronica was killed in May 2016 in Yei by suspected government soldiers when carrying out her medical work.

She was among many of the medical practitioners killed during and before the war.
