IGAD repeats its call on women to become vice president

The Deputy Chairperson of IGAD has reiterates a call on South Sudanese women should take one of the seats of a vice president.
 
Ethiopian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hirut Zemene, says the position represents their thirty-five percent quota given to women.
 
The Foreign Minister, Workneh Gebeyehu, who represented IGAD’s chairman, reminds the parties that one of the women has to be appointed vice president.
 
He urges South Sudanese to respect citizens and not use bad media campaign against one another.
 
Lona James Elia, a woman activist, expresses pleasure on the position and that they will get a competent woman to be vice president in the transitional period.
 
Director of Eve Organization for Women Development, Rita Martin Lopidia.says Women have been pressing for peace, the position of the vice president to females will bring a power balance.
 
Sarah Nyanath, who represents refugees, says equal distribution of resources countrywide will be realized if there is a woman vice president.
 
The women were reacting to the announcement made by IGAD leaders during the closing session of the continued second phase of the Revitalization Forum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Wednesday.
