Tambura State Minister of Health on Monday has warned all citizens in the area against eating bush meat which may lead to Ebola outbreak.
Arkangelo Ngoni kirikiri discloses that the ministry has information about Ebola outbreak in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, and they are afraid that it may soon come to South Sudan due to common trade boarder movement.
He describes Ebola as a terrible and dangerous disease which can kill in short period of time.
The Minister calls on people living at the border areas such as Naandi, Ezo and Rii Yubu to avoid hunting wild animals.
Ngoni assures that the government is in contact with {WHO} in Juba to take precaution at those boarders so that the disease may not spread.
Ebola Virus Disease is a rare and deadly disease in people and nonhuman primates.
According to {WHO}, Ebola is transmitted to human beings through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, fruit bats, monkeys, forest antelope and porcupines found ill or dead or in the rainforest.
It then spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact through broken skin or mucous membranes with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people.
Ebola can also be transmitted through direct contact with surfaces and materials such as bedding, clothing contaminated with infected fluids.
Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed Ebola virus. This occurs through close contact with patients when infection control precautions are not strictly practiced.
Burial ceremonies that involve direct contact with the body of the deceased can also contribute in the transmission of the deadly disease.
People remain infectious as long as their blood contains the virus.
