The sub technical committee for the formation of commission for truth Reconciliation and Healing (CTRH) are in Torit conducting free and open consultation meeting with civil society groups, faith base, youth, women and Government officials.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Grace John Kenyi, a member of Torit Sub-technical committee says the consultation is to gather public opinions on the formation of Commission for truth Reconciliation and Healing in the area.
She urges citizens to talk freely and raise issues affecting South Sudan and their possible solution.
‘We came here to conduct consultation because last year we came for sensitization and now we are coming for consultation to talk to the public to talk to the various stake holders, the youth the women the faith base the three arms of the Government, the traditional leaders and so forth so that we gather the information from them which will be used for drafting a law for the establishment for the commission for truth healing and reconciliation we are looking into the opinion of getting into how the commission will be working if it is establish’
John urges South Sudanese to jointly participate in the consultative meeting by telling out issues affecting South Sudan and its people.
While Philip Jelle a technical member from South Sudan Human Right Commission says open consultation will help speed up the implementation of chapter five peace agreements.
‘The country is being affected with all this conflict economic hardship, a number of issues that is why if you see in the peace agreement itself most of the chapters up to now they are not yet implemented and that is why we working at least to see that the chapter five which is one of the chapters in the peace agreement it has to be implemented as well also you have known that currently the high level revitalization forum it is going on in Addis Ababa we came at this time it doesn’t mean that the forum it is taking place in Addis Ababa that why we came but is just collided together’
Jelle says collecting public opinions helps in drafting legislation that governs the future of CTRH.
While Gody Wilson John a pastor from the ministry of repentance and Holiness Church Torit calls on South Sudanese to openly express their ideas and be healed from the Country trauma
‘It is very important because what to our country it has affected almost every one of us and if we don’t confess, if I don’t come out and also put my ideas in this process I may be knock outside so it is very important also for me to participate that is one of the way of confessing in other word am confessing through the paper put my information there am telling that everyone was responsible in the atrocities and whatever happens in this Country and therefore everyone must also participate in this process in order to achieve a true peace’
Sub technical Committee comprise of Civil Society, Juba University students, National Ministry of Justice and South Sudan Human Right commission.
