The construction of road linking Uganda and South Sudan through Tseretenya border has been suspended until border demarcation between the two countries is resolved.
Torit state governor Tobiolo Alberio Oromo met the resident district commissioner or RDC of Lamwo district in northern Uganda in Tseretenya to keep an eye on the Uganda plan to construct the road beyond their borderline to South Sudan.
Oromo told Uganda authorities to have common understanding with South Sudan authorities before doing any constructions in the border lines.
He says, any developmental activity will be done after the border demarcation is completed
Governor Oromo says having broader picture on the villages in the borderline will determine the ownership of the areas.
While the Lamwo district Commissioner RDC Jonathan Omara says the construction of the road is not related to determination of the borderline.
He says the roads are meant for service delivery.
Omara added that he will write a report to national government in Kampala to discuss with counterparts in Juba to resolve border issue soon
Locals in Tseretenya claim Ugandan government have crossed up to 10 kilometers passed their border to South Sudan in the name of livelihood project.
