Hundreds of IDPs return to their homes in Wau, discloses minister

Hundreds of IDPs have returned to their homes in Lokoloko area of Wau, Information Minister reveals.
 
This comes after a state media committee was formed to facilitate the voluntary return of the displaced persons to their places.
 
Naema Abba Ido says the committee held a meeting with vulnerable IDPs’ families who have decided to return to their houses.
 
She adds that the purpose of the meeting was to let the government listen to the IDPs about the challenges they may face and how the government can help them.
 
Michael Geba Ukello says the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and International Organization for Migration are working closely to ensure that services are offered to the IDPs who will go back to their homes.
 
He encourages all citizens who have gone back to their houses to registrater with the committee.
 
“It is so grate that there are some voluntary return of IDPs home, because peace building among people is needed in the state”, says Joseph Luka Akuer of Civil Society Network.
 
He mentions that, seeing the IDPs returning to their homes is a credit to the government because it shows that the security situation in the state has improved .
 
Voluntary return of IDPs, peace building, co-existence and security were the main agenda the government and the civil society where advocating for.
