Police authorities in Torit State have warned citizens against moving at night which can easily lead to criminal activity and death.

Major Mathew Ochan Jacob, Police Spokesperson gave example of someone who was found dead along Ginana Abuna on the 14th of this month due to moving night.

“We are making community policing awareness to the communities, concerning the criminal activities in the area and crime prevention. We always tell the community that moving at night will cause them death. For example, on the 14th, we found one person dead at the river bank in which the cause of the death is not known. We alert people not to walk alone at night because they may be injured or killed by criminals”.

Major Ochan says no suspect has been arrested in connection to the killing, but police authorities are still investigating the matter.

The Spokesperson warns that anybody found engaging in criminal activities will be arrested by the night patrol police and will face the law.

“Sometimes you drink and drink and when you walk at night, the criminals may beat and kill you. However, we did not arrest any suspect but we have sent police to investigate. I just want to tell our people to know how to prevent crimes. To prevent crimes you need to start by protecting yourself then your neighbor so that everybody will feel secure”

Ochan assures the public that the security situation in the State is normal.
