Media Authority releases list of licensed media in the country

South Sudan’s media have named (77) media entities who have registered and obtained license to work in the country. Speaking at press conference in Juba on Friday, Elijah Alier, head of the Media Authority warns those who did not comply with regulation will face confiscation of license.
 
The list include four TV channels, (37) radio stations, (9) News papers, (6) Printing press, (20) media production companies and (7) media advocacy and associations.
 
‘These are the legally authorized entities that can operate interact with the public engage in media related business and received funds from donors in the Republic of South Sudan. The public and donors are hereby caution not to interact or engage with any media entity not recognized under the media laws of South Sudan’ Alier explained
 
Alier warns the donors and public not to engage in any serious business with non compliance media houses. He did not specify how many media are yet to registered with the regulatory body.
 
Alier reveals that there are nearly 20 other media entities that have presented their application but they are yet to finish the process.
 
‘From next week we will be having a compliance exercise for those who are not appearing in this list. And if those who are not appearing in this list and we have thy cases here; we will give them automaton to clear. Otherwise, we will reject thy application at the same time’ he added
 
Alier assured all journalists under the registered entities that they are entitle to access to information or any help and assistant related to the media work from the media authority.
