National Communication Authority dismisses rumours that it issued directive for the shutting down of MTN telecommunication operations in South Sudan.
The Communication Authority terms such circulating on social media as baseless and fake news.
It calls on the general public and media houses operating in the country to look for clarification from the right source before disseminating wrong information.
Meanwhile MTN assured its customers of not closing down and guaranteed them excellent service with improved network coverage in the near future.
Last month National Communication Authority shut down Vivacell, demanding 66 million US Dollars as license fee, locking out 900 thousand subscribers.
Vivacell, which is owned by Lebanese Fattouch Investment Group, is one of three mobile phone operators in South Sudan competing with South African MTN and Kuwaiti Zain.
