The former Chief of General Staff, Paul Malong Awan has been using his impunity to undermine law and order in the country, says Presidential Press Secretary.
Reacting to recent declaration of new opposition group by Malong, Ateny Wek Ateny, refutes allegations made against President Salva Kiir’s administration.
He says instead General Malong was the major cause of instability in the country.
Ateny calls on South Sudanese people and the international community not to cooperate with the new opposition group, but work with the government to attain lasting peace in the country.
‘The Office of the President believes the rule of law in South Sudan is coming to its realization’, Ateny says.
General Malong announced his new opposition group, ‘South Sudan United Front’ and vowed to fight against President Kiir’s regime in Juba.
He accused the president of looting the country with reckless impunity.
CRN could not reach the former Chief of General Staff for comment by the press time.
