The Commissioner of Yei River applauds the Mine Advisory Group or MAG for its tireless work in freeing the county from landmines and un-exploded remnants of war.
Justin Lokonga says many areas of the county are now free of land mines and the explosive remnants of war, Easter Radio reports.
He urges the organization to continue with the programme to cover the whole county to enable citizens enjoy free field works.
The commissioner observes that many people lost lives due to lack of information about landmines and the explosive remnants of war.
He warns citizens against risky areas which are not yet cleared to safeguard themselves.
The community of the county has been cooperative to them easing their work, says Mwatsika Lawrence, Technical Field Manager of MAG.
He expresses the organization’s commitment to continue helping the community until it is aware of the dangers of landmines and becomes free of explosive remnants of war.
MAG is an internal organization which deals with land mines and explosive remnants of war clearance it started activities in Yei County in 2017.
