The Local Chief in Mairo residential area in Torit town is strongly advising residents to stop open defecation along the river side to avoid contamination of water.
Lonuha Joseph Tiberius says open defecation leads to the easy spread of diseases in the area.

Meanwhile, a resident of the area Anyese Keji Amela says she now fetches drinking water from the tap but sometimes from Kinaite River for other purposes like washing and domestic functions
Keji appreciates the provision of water taps in the area by UNICEF saying the problem of drinking contaminated water has minimized.
Keji calls on other NGOs to continue supporting citizens in water, sanitation and hygiene to avoid unnecessary outbreaks of waterborne diseases.
