A Catholic Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba has criticized some government officials for embezzling public funds.
Rector of St Lawrence Minor Seminary in Rajef, Erkolano Lodu Tombe, says the country is undergoing current situation due to such practices.
He adds that malpractice of public funds meant for development has led to the current economic crisis.
‘They enter the government system to make profit. This is why we here of the civil servants who are not paid for more than one year. Where is this money going? This money is going to the pockets of our leaders. We hear of South Sudan named ‘failed nation’. Not because we have failed in life, but because money failed our leadership. The money of oil companies goes to individual pockets of our leaders who enter the government system with the aim of making profit, but not with the mind of service delivery to their people’.
Fr Lodu was giving his Homily on the Psalm Sunday in St Kizito’s Parish of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba.
