One hundred and fifty women on Wednesday attended a three-day conference on the high level revitalization forum on South Sudan and Ceasefire Agreement in Juba.

The meeting under the theme: ‘Women together for sustainable peace’ is to create awareness among female groups on the first and second phase of the forum, Bakhita Radio reports.

Women’s Bloc chairperson Amer Manyok Deng describes the conference as important because women will be able to develop strategies in the next forum.

Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission is committed to support and promote women’s participation in peace-building and conflict resolution processes, says Ambassador Berhanu Kebede, JMEC Chief of Staff.

He adds that the workshop will not only equip women with the information they need, but also help strengthen their role in contributing to the revitalization outcomes.

The workshop organized by Women Bloc of South Sudan, supported by JMEC and UN Women, brought together women organizations from across the country.

The three-day conference is expected to conclude on Friday.
