Citizens in Torit town of Imotong State are complaining that the price of tap water in residential areas have increased from five to ten South Sudanese Pounds.
Paska Iyom, a resident of Hai Inkas, says the price increase has made life difficult for majority unemployed users, Emmanuel Radio reports.
She urges concern authorities to think about the suffering of citizens by availing water at a low cost.
Iyom says there will be no life without water.
While Susan Ayet, the water tap seller, says the price increment came from the top authorities.
The price increase results from high usage of water by consumers, she adds.
The increase of water price depends on the usage of water in cubic meters, says Oyito Baptist, Managing Director for Torit Rural Urban Water Supply.
He denies that his office did increase any price, but accuses the venders in residential areas for creating their own price.
Baptist says although their office has come up with the financial budget that doubles the prices of last year, but it has not reach 10 SSP per a jerrycan.
The manager urges the venders to supply water to the public at affordable prices to prevent water born diseases.
The speakers were talking to Emmanuel Radio in separate interviews in Torit on Tuesday.
