A midwife in Tonj Civil Hospital is urging pregnant women to visit health centers for their safety in giving birth.
Fatima Soot says many women fail to visit the health facilities due to ignorance, Don Bosco Radio reports.
Some women refuse because of cultural practice, she adds.
Albino Tong, another midwife working in the same hospital, mentions that only few women are visiting health facilities.
Visiting antenatal care or ANC is very important to expectant mothers in order to protect them against disease, he explains.
The midwife encourages mothers to educate their fellow women on the importance of ANC.
