The Commissioner of Magwi County in Imotong state has reported that the returnees in the area are more vulnerable due to lack of humanitarian assistance.

Ochola Bosco Oringa reports that the returnees lack food, shelter and health services among others.

‘The general situation of these returnees is bad. They are very vulnerable. They went to refugee camp because of the crisis that happened in 2016. It is the mandate of the government to bring peace and provide security to its people. The security situation is normal that is why they are coming back, but they lack social services like the relief aid that is supposed to be provided to them’.

The Commissioner says IOM and other humanitarian agencies are in the area to assess the situation.

He is hopeful that the agencies will deliver basic services to the needy based on the assessment.

‘It is good that some of the cooperating partners IOM, the Impact Health Organization and the others, have come on the ground to assess the area. After finishing the assessment, they may provide some of these needs to rescue these people’.

Magwi County Commissioner made the remarks in an interview with Radio Emmanuel at state ministry of local Government in Torit on Tuesday.
