National government bans hunting of wild animals

The Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism has banned hunting of wild animals and commercial trade in trophies.
 
Jemma Nunu Kumba, Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism ordered trade in wildlife products such as skin, meat and bird feathers is now illegal in the country.
 
Colonel Thomas Sebit, Deputy Spokesman of the Ministry of Wildlife Conservation told Bakhita Radio that the ban is to crackdown on poaching of wild animals.
 
The government recently recorded high rates of poaching of Gazelles, Buffalos and elephants across the country, says the Colonel.
 
He calls on the people of South Sudan to support Wildlife Conservation efforts rather than contributing to destroy them.
 
The directive says any person caught dealing in wildlife products shall be arrested, prosecuted and those found guilty would face a two-year jail term or pay a fine of five thousand pounds.
