Wau state government calls for immediate closure of POC

A top government official in Wau state has called for the immediate closure of the UN run protection of civilians’ sites because it has become a home for criminals.
 
Angelo Taban Biago says camps have a lot of disadvantages such as sexual assault been done by some UNMISS police individuals and there is a need to close it down. Radio Voice of Hope reports.
 
Governor Taban reveals that they will form a joint investigation committee with local civil societies in Wau so as to find the facts around the case of the sexual abuse in the camp.
 
He believes the rights of women in the displacement camp in Wau have been violated by the people who are supposed to give them protection.
 
The governor reiterates his call on the IDPs who resides at the POC to go to their homes and live in dignity. He says the security situation in Wau is now calm and nothing to fear about.
 
Governor Taban was addressing hundreds of citizens at Jazeera square during a weekly security and peace briefing on Saturday.
