The new coach for South Sudan’s national football team has on Monday arrived in Juba to assume his responsibilities.

The South Sudan Football Association or SSFA last week appointed Ahcene Ait-Abdelmelek as the new Bright Stars’ coach for a one-year-contract.

The German-born Algerian succeeded former interim manager, Bilal Felix.

Abdelmelek expresses happiness upon arrival at Juba International Airport.

He promises to unveil his plans for the national team in few months.

Abdelmelek is tasked to prepare the country for the upcoming African Cup of Nations against Mali in September.

He previously coached Burundi national team, Mali’s club Djoliba AC and other clubs in Europe.

He becomes the fourth foreign coach to manage the Bright Stars after the departure of South Korea’s Lee Sung-Jea, Serbian Zoran Dordevic and Uganda’s Leo Adraa.
