The South Sudan Football Association or SSFA has appointed Algerian, Ahcene Ait-Abdelmelek as the new head coach of the national football team, the Bright Stars.

The Association announced on its official facebook page that Abdelmelek will succeed interim manager Bilal Felix after signing a one-year-deal.

The world football governing body says its board of directors picked the German-born Algerian tactician after a thorough selection process.

Abdelmelek is expected to arrive in Juba on March 5.

He is tasked with preparing the country for the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali in September.

Abdelmalek previously coached the Burundi national team, Mali’s club Djoliba AC and other clubs in Europe.

He becomes the fourth foreign coach to manage the Bright Stars after the departure of South Korea’s Lee Sung-Jea, Serbian Zoran Dordevic and Uganda’s Leo Adraa.
