Thousands of people on Friday gathered in Tonj Freedom Square to welcome the new state governor.
Anthony Bol Madut replaces Major General Akec Tong Aleu who held the position for two years, Don Bosco Radio reports.
The outgoing Governor Akec Tonj Aleu appreciates the decision of President Salva Kiir Mayardit for appointing his successor.
He believes the new governor will render good services and maintain the security of the people in the region.
The former Governor urges the cabinet and the Tonj citizens to cooperate with the new leader to serve the state.
He encourages Bol Madut to disarm the civilians so that citizens enjoy freedom.
Anthony Bol Madut appreciates the former Governor Akec Tong Aleu for maintaining the security situation despite other few cases of fighting.
The leader made the comments during welcoming speeches at Freedom Square on Friday in Tonj.
