Caritas South Sudan has on Saturday launched its strategic plan for 2018 to 2021 for implementation.
Caritas says the launching aims at responding adequately to people’s needs as South Sudan is still confronted with a major humanitarian crisis.
Erkolano Lodu Tombe, the president of Caritas South Sudan regrets that it is unfortunate that Caritas has been responding more to emergencies than to development because of the current war.
He says South Sudan is still at emergency period and it is not easy to talk about development when war is still going on.
He expresses Caritas’ commitment to continue saving South Sudanese from hunger.
Fr Emmanuel Sebit representing Yei Diocese calls on Caritas South Sudan to note that IDPs and refugees might return to their homes if peace comes to the country. He says with their arrival, they need provision of more food to eat.
Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro appreciates Caritas and all the partners for their support.
He encourages Caritas South Sudan to strengthen its relationship with the other bodies to develop.
Caritas South Sudan was formed in 2011 by the Catholic Bishops under Caritas Internationalis coordination unit.
It was created in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis of the people and the collective duty and commitment of the Church to alleviate suffering.
