The Imotong August House this Monday passed a motion to change the name to Torit State.

He further adds that Torit State is a suitable name that replaces Imotong.
Muras says naming the state after Torit Town unifies people than naming a state after a tribe or clan.
Speaker Charles Udwar announced the resolution passed by the assembly.
The state assembly adopted the resolution on Monday.
