The Panel Experts on South Sudan’s interim report that was addressed to the President of the UN Security Council last year lacks reliable sources, validity of information, concrete evidence and consultation, the Media Authority Managing Director argues.

Elijah Alier Kuai says the report is not genuine and did not give chance to concerned individuals or entities to reply.

On November 20, 2017, the panel experts on South Sudan accused the Media Authority of restricting International journalists.

Alier responded that the Media Authority is an independent, impartial in decision making and cannot be influenced by individuals, institution or donors.

Alier stresses that the foreign journalists were disseminating misleading and harmful information to misinform the whole world.

He expresses Media Authority’s commitment to promote the freedom of expression as required by the law.

The Managing Director was addressing journalists in Juba in respond to the Panel of Experts on South Sudan’s report after South Sudan Media Authority banned 20 foreign journalists from coverage in the country.
