Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa or AMECEA Secretary-Generals and heads of institutions on Friday concluded a meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
AMECEA Secretary-General, Fr Ferdinand Lugonzo, says the meeting was to plan ahead of the 19th Assembly scheduled for July 13 to 23 in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, AMECEA Online News reported.
The meeting was to know how each conference and AMECEA implemented the resolutions of the last assembly, challenges and recommendations to be presented to Bishops in the next plenary, he adds.
The Secretary-Generals present in the two-day evaluation meeting came from Ethiopia, Eretria, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Uganda.
Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference Secretary-General was not present due to unavoidable circumstances.
The meeting called by AMECEA Secretary General Fr Lugonzo attracted heads of Catholic University of Eastern, Pastoral Institute Gaba and Bakanja Seminary.
The theme of the upcoming assembly is ‘Vibrant diversity, equal dignity and peaceful unity in god in the AMECEA region.’
