The Demobilization Disarmament and Rehabilitation Commission of South Sudan will on Wednesday this week reunite more than 700 children with their families.

Oluku Andrew Holth an official from the South Sudan DDR Commission says the child soldiers were registered and verified in Gbudue state and they were found to be below 18 years old. Anisa Radio reports.

He says his office has registered and verified 716 children who were formerly associated with the SSNLM and SPLA/IO.

Most of the children were body guards of the commanders during the rebellion, Andrew adds.

He discloses that some of the children will be taken to Government Interim Care Center to give them psychosocial support.

Others will be taken to vocational training center in Tindoka in Yambio, he continues.

Andrew urges the child soldiers to go back home and listen to their parents and go back to school.

He expresses their continuous commitment to re-unite under age children with their families.

One of the released child soldiers which we will refer him as Abel only, says he joined arm group because he was promised sum of money and later nothing was given to him.

He says he is very happy to be reunited with his family members such that he can start going to school again.

Another under age child soldier whom we will refer to here as Mariam was captured in 2014 on her way to the garden. She says it was a hard experience to live in the bush and she was always sent to fetch water and cook for the rebel fighters.

She expresses happiness to go back home to join her parents and return to school.
