Paralegals in Torit Imotong State are calling on the government and civil society organizations to educate the local population on how to access justice.

Paralegals are persons trained in legal matters, performing tasks requiring knowledge of the law and legal procedures, Emmanuel Radio reports.

They say most community members ignore legal procedures needed to access their rights.

Claudious Taban works for Support Peace Initiative Development Organization or SPIDO. He says paralegals are working hard towards bringing citizens closer to the law.

Dayan Luke, head of paralegals in Imotong State says without sensitization, the local population will not know any legal procedures.

He appeals to the civil society organizations to come together and educate the community to understand the roles and duties of Paralegals.

The speakers made the statement on Wednesday in an interview with Radio Emmanuel during a rule of law forum in Torit.
