A Catholic priest of the Wau Diocese says more than 500 people in Mboro area of Beselia County in Wau State are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

Fr Arkangelo Louis Sijin, after visiting the area, says hundreds of people are lacking food, medicines and clean drinking water, Radio Voice of Hope reports.

He points out that many of them especially women and children are in dire condition which needs an urgent charitable intervention.

Fr Louis reveals that communities in Mboro are grateful for the last assistance given to them by aid agencies, but that their situation needs urgent help.

He calls on the government in Wau State to open the road and provide security to ensure free movement of people to access services.

This is the first visit for a religious leader to the area after one year since the crisis started in Wau.
