Government vows to improve working conditions of teachers

The government has promised that the working condition of teachers will be improved in the next financial year to reduce the illiteracy rate in South Sudan.
 
Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth acknowledges that there was no due consideration given to teachers in terms of salaries, despite the important role they play.
 
He briefs the media after the Minister of Education Deng Deng Hoc presented general education policy and strategic plan to the cabinet on Friday.
 
The policy and the strategic plan aim at improving the illiteracy rate in the country.
 
National languages and civil education will be introduced, says Makuei.
 
He reveals a plan to set up national schools in all states so that children are mixed up and can interrelate with one another.
 
The government spokesperson was talking to journalists immediately after the meeting of the council of ministers.
