The Thiik community of Ngap-agok County in Tonj East started peace conference last Friday.

The conference under the theme: ‘Togetherness as our tradition’, Radio Don Bosco reports.

The meeting brought together youth, intellectuals, traditional leaders, government officials, religious leaders and civil population.

Clement Deng Akech, Deputy Ambassador of South Sudan to Ghana says peace is a collective responsibility of the society and the government.

He calls upon the Thiik community and its neighbors to accept peace in the New Year.

Ambassador Deng stresses that killing one another is not the solution to problems, but accepting dialogue is the only way to peace.

The diplomat laments that other people are still mourning their loved ones due to the recent fighting between Thiik and Jewau communities that claimed lives.

With peace, children could go to school and developmental projects could be realized in the area, he adds.

The Speaker made the remarks during a phone call interview on Monday with Radio Don Bosco in Tonj.
