Tonj State is relatively calm after clashes between cattle raiders and civilians which resulted into loss of lives and injuries, confirms Governor.
Radio Anisa quoted Akech Tong Aleu Tonj calling on people not to fear as the government works hard to improve the security situation.
He adds that the situation is under control at the moment.
The Governor says the details of those who lost their lives are not yet known, but twenty people were confirmed wounded.
He reveals that it was misunderstanding between cattle raiders who started shooting people at random in one of the markets in the area.
Tong appeals to citizens to cooperate with the state government so that they can achieve lasting peace in Tonj State and South Sudan.
The governor appeals to the national government to support them relocate army in the areas and disarm civilians in the state and the country at large.
Tong discloses that armed cattle raiders are many and needs the national government to intervene.
He stresses that 2018 should be the year of peace and reconciliation in South Sudan.
The clashes started on Sunday at 10 PM and ended around 5 AM on Monday.
The Governor was talking to Radio Anisa from Tonj State in a telephone interview.
