Lack of support hinders girl footballers from exercising their skills and competing in international sport tournaments, says a female footballer in Torit, Imotong State.
Christine Kepino, a player of Hai Lotuko during the inter-residential football competition in Torit town, says there are only few females who practice football and other sports due to little support, Radio Emmanuel reports.
She appeals to both the governmental and non-governmental organizations to support girls in sport activities.
Hussein Urbano Alex, Imotong State Minister of Education, says organizing sport activities for school children helps keep them from bad peer groupings.
Charles Udwar, Imotong State Assembly Speaker, acknowledges the government’s support to development partners in involving girls in sports activities in the state.
He also reveals that the national government have budget for supporting girls.
Speaker Udwar encourages girls not to surrender sport due to lack of sport attires.
The speakers made the remarks when Hai Lotuko girls faced Hai Kuku at Torit Freedom Square last week.
