Lakes Region Coordinator for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO strongly condemns the attack where over 70 people are reported dead in two separate attacks in Western Lakes State
Isaac Majier Majok says it is unacceptable act and the perpetrators should be held accountable.
Fighting between youth of Rup and Pakam communities that begun on Wednesday 06 in Apet cattle camp and resumed on Friday morning in Atermoc/Cuei-arol left 70 people dead, dozens wounded with 30 others in critical conditions.
The report says hundred of houses where burnt down with food items from both conflicting communities.
The Coordinator says the attacks need a prompt response from the national government as shown in other parts of Bahr el Ghazal region.
The situation is out of control from the states government and of such should be treated as a national issue, Majier stresses.
He calls on the national government to rescue the affected communities of Western Lakes, Gok and Eastern Lakes States.
‘Solutions should be found, our national and state parliaments are so silent over the armed youth attacks and the practices that amount to crime against humanity:, Majier stresses.
He also calls for humanitarian’s assistance to the vulnerable groups that have been affected and displaced by the conflict in and outside Rumbek.
